Music for Everyone

One – on – one music instruction offered to all ages. Instruction in piano, organ, voice, guitar, drums, most all band and orchestra instruments provided by professional musicians with college degrees in performance, or music education and/or certified in their specific area. Lessons are taught in 30, 45 or 60 minute weekly sessions year round. Music is the one study that uses the entire brain! Studies show that participating in music study helps the young develop numerous skills and the adult keep their brain sharp!

SUMMER SESSION: – June 1 – July 13 (6 classes)

Fall sessions begin August 3. New sessions start every 6 weeks. No experience necessary. You select your subject and the instructor will guide you to create your master piece. Come and find your artistic talent!
 

Summer Drama Class

School aged children enjoy the excitement of on-stage performances of Disney and Broadway, Jr shows.  Previous productions have included: Cinderella, Into the Woods, High School Musical, Jungle Book, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Annie, Shrek, Willy Wonka and many more as well as non-musical mystery theatre dramas. There is no audition to join. Informal auditions will take place to assign parts. EVERYONE IS A STAR!

SUMMER DRAMA:
Class begins May 2
Elementary class Production dates:  September 9 – 11
High School production dates:  August 12 – 14

FALL DRAMA:
Class begins October 3
Classes meet from October – March and conclude with an elementary production in February and a middle/high school production in March.



 

Family Music Class

Join the fun in our Family Music classes for the young child and parent / grandparent. Classes offered for babies - 5 year old children.

SUMMER CLASSES:  Family Music (children age toddler – kindergarten)
Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30-10:15, June 7 – 30
Tuition:  $94 / 8 classes – Sibling $47
Curriculum: Nature’s Music (bugs and frogs!) / Nimble and Quick (Mother goose rhymes re-imagined)

All the Musik Garten classes are led by Ginger Tankersley, certified in the Musik Garten curriculum. Everyone enjoys Music with Ginger!


DANCE - Express Yourself

Everyone loves to dance! Crank up the music and every foot begins to tap the beat, every child begins to wiggle! We start with the very young to develop coordination skills through fun ballet and tap instruction. Building on our successful pre-school class, we are expanding our offerings for the older student!

Creative Drama Class for Pre-school Ages 4-5

ACT ONE is a fun creative hour of drama for the little budding actor in your family. The hour is filled with drama games, singing, dancing, acting out favorite stories, show songs and putting their IMAGINATION on stage!

PIANO CLASSES

Small group setting introduces piano playing to the young child. Class time includes piano skills, ear training, theory games and fun times at the keyboard. Parent involvement is expected. (Class size is limited.)

SUMMER CLASSES:

INTRODUCTION TO MUSIC MAKERS AT THE KEYBOARD – ages 5-6 Class size is limited!

This class will use MusikGarten curriculum and is designed to lead into the Music Makers at the Keyboard class. Ginger Tankersley, instructor is certified by MUSIKGARTEN.

IMPROV AND INTRO TO THE BLUES Lois Sivert Instructor

This class will offer beginning steps in creating music using improvisation and “Blues” techniques and styles!

Improvisation is the making of music “at the moment.” The Blues is a genre of music originating in the African-American communities of the Deep South and associated with spirituals, ballads and jazz.

Class size:   2- 4 students.
Requirements:     Students should be able to read music at intermediate levels. They should able to play simple chords, one octave scales and working in a level 3 or higher method book.

Emphasis will be on making music “on the spot” using a form, creating variations, altering harmonies and keys to create a “blues” song.

Wednesdays:     June 1 – June 29 (5 classes) / July 6 offered as a make up class
Time:     4:30-5:15 (additional classes formed if needed) FEES:     $75.00 (5 classes)

Twinkler Violin Class

Ages 4-5

The small group setting introduces the young child to the fun of TWINKLE TWINKLE, LITTLE STAR on the violin! During the class session, the students learn to play this favorite song in various ways. Class time includes learning about the violin, how to play it and take care of it. Music and alphabet games add to the fun of the class time. Students play on Ms. Burcham’s spring student recital! Parent involvement is expected! (Class size is limited.)
