Smoke Rise Baptist Weekday School is a vital part of the ministry of Smoke Rise Baptist Church. For 50 years, Smoke Rise Baptist Weekday School has met the needs of children and families through caring teachers, excellent facilities and a curriculum that stimulates young minds to explore, discover, worship and play. Smoke Rise Baptist Weekday School cares deeply for each and every child. Our ministry is to welcome little children, as Jesus did, and to care for them and their families personally, while nurturing them in a safe, loving and creative environment. Through play and an activity-centered curriculum, we seek to teach our students about their own capabilities and about Christian faith, providing them a strong foundation for the skills necessary for success in elementary school and beyond.

Class Structure
The Sea Turtles Class (1’s and Younger 2’s)
The Sea Turtles Class is a combined class of our younger 2’s and our 1 year olds. Once a child turns two, they may attend four days a week, Tues-Fri, from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. Two’s also have the option of choosing two or three days per week. Our 1’s (12 months to 23 months as of 9/1/2023) may attend one or two days during the week.
The Sea Horse Class (Older 2’s)
The Sea Horse Class meets four days a week (Tues-Fri), from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. Parents may choose a two, three or four day week depending on the needs of your family and child. In this class, children begin learning to sit at a table, participate in circle time and potty training is encouraged. This class uses the Zoo Phonics curriculum.
The Star Fish Class (Younger 3’s)
The Star Fish Class meets four days a week (Tues-Fri), from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. Parents may chose a three or four day week depending on the needs of your family and child. Potty training is a big focus of this class and all children should be working on it at home as well. This class uses the Zoo Phonics curriculum.
The Dolphins Class (Older 3’s)
The Dolphins Class meets four days a week (T-F), from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. Parents may chose a three day week if that is better for your child. While accidents happen and every child is at a different developmental stage, children should be able to go to the potty with minimal assistance. Please discuss with your child’s teacher and the director of the school with any concerns you may have. This class uses the Zoo Phonics curriculum.
The Whales Class (4’s)
The Whales Class (four years old as of September 1) meets four days a week (T-F), from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. The focus of this class is Kindergarten readiness. A strong found is built in pre-reading skills, beginning math skills, fine motor skills, group learning and cooperation. This class uses Zoo Phonics and Mathematics Their Way as curriculum guides.
The Octopus Class (3’s and 4’s)
The Octopus Class meets on Mondays from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. This class is provided as an enrichment day for our 3’s and 4’s. The focus is cooperative play, themed art projects and story telling. While every child is a different developmental stage, children should be fully potty-trained to attend or have approval from the Director.

Smoke Rise Baptist Weekday School shares the facilities of Smoke Rise Baptist Church, located at 5901 Hugh Howell Road in Stone Mountain. We are near Stone Mountain Park, Stone Mountain Village, Tucker, and the Smoke Rise community. The school is convenient to families who reside in both DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties.
