Ecclesiastes 3:1

Story of Belonging
Why do I love Smoke Rise? Let me count the ways.
Forty-four years ago, Chuck and I were searching for a new church home for our family. With two children in elementary school and one in high school, we longed for a place where our faith could grow together. It was amazing—or maybe just a God thing—that every Sunday, Dr. Gannon’s sermon was exactly what we needed to hear. Even now, I love that Chris still seems to know just what my heart needs each Sunday morning.
The fourth day of the week has become one of my favorites. I love Wednesday night dinners—where else can you enjoy a meal surrounded by friends of all ages, sharing laughter, conversation, and the simple joy of being together as a church family?
It also holds a special place in my heart because of choir practice. Danny does a wonderful job leading our music ministry and creating space for all ages to worship through music. Even after a long day, rehearsal lifts my spirits, renews my energy, and reminds me of the beauty of praising God together.
Life would not be complete without my Sunday School class and the wider church family. When Chuck passed away, I don’t know how I would have managed without their love and support. I truly felt the power of every prayer, and it carried me through some of my hardest days.
Thank you, Smoke Rise, for loving me and my family. In every season, in every moment, and in every time of joy and sorrow, you have been a constant blessing in my life.

Pondering
In what seasons of your life have you felt the need to reach out for help from the people around you?
Who are the people that you want to reach out to when life is joyous and when it is strained?
Prayer
Gracious God, In all the ways and in all the things that fill our lives, teach us to trust in the abundance of You. Help us to find places and people with whom we can share each season of life, growing stronger together in Your love and grace. Amen.
Lou,
Your words are beautiful and dedication to family and church is strong. Thank you for sharing this beautiful testimony.
Love, Andrea Redmond
