Story of Belonging
I am reminded of Doris Akers’ hymn “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” every time I think of Smoke Rise. Everyone here is full of the love of Jesus and gladly shares that love with others. Whether it’s checking in with friends during Sunday School, sitting around the dinner table on Wednesday nights, chatting with those around me in the sanctuary before service, or getting my weekly workout during handbell practice, being around my Smoke Rise family fills my spirit and energizes me.
There is a widely used quote often misattributed to Saint Francis of Assisi: “Preach the gospel at all times; when necessary, use words.” Our Smoke Rise family exemplifies this perfectly. We don’t just verbalize our love; we live it.
May we continue to look for ways to intentionally spread the love of God to everyone around us, letting our actions speak as loudly as our words.

Prayer
Holy Spirit, Sweet Heavenly Dove, Stay right with us, filling us with your love. And for these blessings, we lift our hearts in praise. Without a doubt, we’ll know that we have been revived when we leave this place. Amen
