We welcome you to a time of good food and fellowship as we express our thankfulness for our wonderful church family.
Food Baskets for Community Partners
After dinner, we will gather in the gym to put together
Thanksgiving baskets for NETWorks and the Lilburn Co-op.
Items for the baskets will be collected
October 25 – November 18
Bins will located throughout the church for the collection and a basket will be in the church office for gift card donations.
Below are the items that are needed for the baskets:
large can of sweet potatoes
canned green beans
canned corn
canned fruit
canned jellied cranberry sauce
gravy packets (NO GLASS JARS)
boxed stuffing
boxes of mac and cheese
packages of cookies
instant potato packets (NO BOXES)
canned pie filling (apple or cherry)
boxes of Jiffy pie crust
muffin mix packets
$20 Gift Cards (Kroger or Walmart)
Matthew 18:20 NIV reads, “Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Well, picture our Fellowship Hall full of God’s people gathered to fellowship, eat and prepare Thanksgiving baskets for the Lilburn CO-OP and Networks. “Surely the Lord is in this place.”
Our Thanksgiving meal is one of my favorite meals during the year. Young and old are enjoying being together. It’s also a time when extended family and college students enjoy coming back home. We enjoy a delicious meal, especially our “passed down” dressing recipe. Would you believe I start with 40 pounds of White Lily Cornmeal Mix and 75 eggs?

After gathering around the table, we are invited to extend the spirit of thanksgiving beyond the walls of our church. As a church family, we will prepare 150 bags of food to be distributed through our local food co-ops. Smoke Rise Baptist Church partners with the Lilburn Co-op and the NETWorks Co-op in Tucker to help provide food for neighbors in need.
Many of our neighbors experience food insecurity, and Smoke Rise has been a faithful partner in helping meet this need for many years. The leaders of these co-ops are deeply grateful for the generous support our church provides and for the difference it makes in the lives of local families.
Food and gift cards for the Thanksgiving baskets will be collected October 25 through November 18. You will see collection bins around our church. Prayerfully consider how you can participate, and give generously as we serve together to help those who are struggling to provide food for their families.
